Getaway

Kristy was down here for a few days, so of course she made the most of it with a side trip to Disney World with friends, and of course I came with!

Friday evening she, Kate, Tina, and I went to Kona Cafe at the Polynesian for dinner, then we went to the Magic Kingdom just long enough to get Dole Whips and ride a ride. Pirates was closed so we went on Jungle Cruise. “Does anyone know what kind of snake this is? … starts with a P …?” Someone yelled PLASTIC! “No! That’s wrong! This is a python! You want to see plastic animals, go ride Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom, those are the most fake animals I’ve ever seen!”

(And: “Go away, hippos! We’re all out of marbles! We’re not playing your game any more!”)

Jill didn’t join us that evening because she was home teaching friends how to bake sourdough bread, and learning how to tie-dye tee shirts. She tie-dyed me a Mickey shirt! I actually have never had a tie-dyed shirt before! I am now truly a hippie.

On Saturday, Jill joined us for lunch at Le Cellier (Epcot, Canada) where the pretzel bread and beer-cheese soup is dee-lish. For the main course I had the spicy sirloin noodle bowl; sesame-crusted sirloin over udon noodles with a soy lime broth, with pickles made from cucumbers grown at The Land. We of course went on Ellen’s Energy Adventure (we know every line) and Spaceship Earth, then Jill parted ways but the rest of us took the boat to Hollywood Studios, where we rode the Great Movie Ride and saw Muppetvision 3D (we know every line) and had dinner at the 50s Prime-Time Cafe, and escaped right before fireworks.
