Saturday, July 8, 2000: Today's game plan is to meet my friend MacBadger -- er, Kurt Jennings at noon at Disney/MGM Studios.

I've enjoyed my time out here so far. The weather hasn't been nearly as unbearable as I had expected, but that may be because it's been overcast most days, and there hasn't really been any direct sunlight. The humidity has been uncomfortable... but not terrible, and there's always air conditioning somewhere not too far away. The only bugs I've seen have been a few little ants on the ground, and one dragonfly. I think I had prepared myself for something far more terrible than I've found.

Of course, I'm told that the love bugs don't appear until later in the summer...

I'm starting to think about where I might get an apartment. On Sunday I might check out a few apartment complexes around Kissimmee and St. Cloud just to get a feel for them. I haven't figured out all the variables yet -- I want to find someplace close to the Disney parks, but not be overwhelmed by the traffic and the glitz. Oh, and I want to find someplace that doesn't have a history of being in the path of hurricanes or tornadoes.

I still don't know what WonderWorks is (the upside-down building), so on a hunch, I tried going to the web site 'www.wonderworks.com'. The first sentence on that web site is:

Wonderworks is a place where wonderful people are worked until they die of exhaustion.

I really hope that's a different place they're talking about.

Let's see what kind of weather I have to look forward to this week:

Good thing I brought an umbrella.
