Day 6, part 4 |
So, where does one go for dinner in Orlando?
How about if we head to Italy?
Why? Because we can.

Ahh, the wonders of an annual pass and free transportation between parks! MacB also let me in on a useful thing to know: this pass also gets me free parking at the Disney parks. I wish I'd figured this out sooner; I could have saved six or seven bucks for each of the three times I parked up until now!
Alfredo is in the Italy section of Epcot. It's one of the restaurants I wanted to go to on my first day here, but I passed up on it then because I didn't want to go alone. MacB balked at the prices, but I when I told him that he was my excuse for coming back to this restaurant and that the price of dinner here was nothing compared to what I had already spent to make it out here to Florida, he graciously let me treat him to dinner. :-)
The waiter seated us next to the door, then came back to apologize profusely and move us to another table (I guess he didn't want us to frighten away the guests). I ordered 'gnocci con ragu' -- small potato dumplings like my grandmom makes, but these were in a 'demiglace reducted' meat sauce which tasted much more like beef stew. MacB had fetuccini alfredo, and that was all they put on his plate (no side dishes), but still it was a lot of food. An accordian player came by to play for us, but he didn't stick around long, and we applauded when he left.
On the way to the restaurant, we were treated to an odd sight:

Tower of Terror in Morocco? The Swan Hotel in France?
The Millenium fireworks show came and went while we were in the restaurant, so by the time we finished and left, the park was deserted.

MacB showed me a 'secret' I hadn't known about: next to France is a park exit with a short walk from there to the Beach and Yacht Clubs and the Boardwalk. We caught a ferry at the Beach Club and returned to Disney/MGM Studios to see Fantasmic.
