The Great Experiment |
Day 14, part 2 |
Let me stray from my 'Back to the Future' mission for a moment to tell you about one of the coolest things I like about the 'modern' Epcot.

This animated display is located between Spaceship Earth and the large fountain behind it. It's made of thousands of 'pixels,' each consisting of one red LED, one green LED, and one blue LED. It alternates between advertising Epcot and various rides, and showing wait times for the E-ticket rides. The thing is bright, and it lights up the entire area at night.

We have all of our ducks in a row
One of the last great symbols of Epcot as it used to be is the Living Seas.

Hydrolate me!

Huh, this Hydrolator is made by Otis... doesn't Otis make elevators? Hmmmmm...

Whoa, suddenly I'm on the set of Star Trek: The Motion Picture

A manatee, grazing on romaine lettuce (really!)

A swift-moving dolphin

Mounds of manatees

Prepare to be dehydrolated
At some point during the day (I don't remember the order we did this), we rode Spaceship Earth. SlinkyDog pointed out to me the characters whose heads were made from the same molds as some of the Presidents in the Magic Kingdom: Harry Truman was an Egyptian, and Andrew Jackson was a Roman.
At six, we met up with DisNut under Spaceship Earth, and went to dinner at the 'Rose and Crown' in the United Kingdom pavilion.

More pretty flowers along the way

Not hidden too well (compare this shot of Horizons to the one I posted on Day 2)

This little guy's big brother lives on top of a hotel!
We left the park at sunset, and headed over to Downtown Disney Marketplace.

Yet another gorgeous sunset
A lingering stop into the Art of Disney store, a stop by the Lego store (of course), then dessert at Ghirardelli's, and we called it a night.
